5 Income Producing Activities You Could do Today While AfterShoot Culls Your Photos

The IRS defines a business as “any activity carried on for the production of income from selling goods or performing services. “

Income. That’s important. Because if you don’t have income, you have a hobby, not a business.

One of the reasons we invented AfterShoot was to help photographers with one of the biggest problems they have: the time-consuming job of culling their photos. We know that when photographers are freed up to do the things that make them income, they are happier and more profitable. Win-win!

When you use AfterShoot to cull your photos, you can turn your attention to IPAs! Not the beer, but a good way to remember:

INCOME

PRODUCING

ACTIVITIES

15% of what you are doing on any given day should be focused on either finding your next client or nurturing leads. Some of this is accomplished by posting on social media, but we also want to encourage you to take actionable, measurable steps for IPAs.

We can’t give you time back, but we can help you make more time to make your business profitable!

5 IPAs To Do While our Magical Unicorns Cull Your Photos

Get in touch with five good clients you haven’t heard from lately.

If you have a promotion coming up, tell them about it and how it can benefit them. Or, just say hi and tell them you were thinking about them and wanted to check in. Either way, it keeps you top of mind and shows them that you care about keeping in touch.

Double-check through those leads you have.

How many times did you follow up? If it was only a few, then reach out again. You never know where people are in their journey! It takes most people 5-7 touches before they respond. If you quit after a few follow-ups, you could really be losing out.

Take a look at your prices and see where you can increase profits.

This can be something as easy as removing a USB jump drive that you include with your galleries for clients. Cloud services such as Cloudspot and Pic-Time are increasingly easy to use and affordable and can be accessed by mobile devices. You may be spending hundreds per year on branded drives that people don’t really care about or lose. Simple switches like this can make a big difference in your bottom line, but you have to have the time to do some research.

Add in some products or services that are new.

You can use this time to start thinking about and researching items you could add that your clients would highly desire. How about a small album for grandparents? A line of photo greeting cards? You probably have a ton of ideas but just haven’t had time to sit down and think it through. Use this time to brainstorm!

Outsource things you don’t like to do.

Now that you understand the beauty of delegating the parts of your business that are boring, repetitive, or that you just don’t like to do, what else could you think about outsourcing? Here are just a few ideas:

  • Accounting
  • Blog posts
  • Social media management
  • Newsletters
  • Email management/templates

Now that AfterShoot has given you time back, use it wisely to help grow your business!
